Eva Longoria toasts with Astillero wine from Bodegas El Paraguas

Eva Longoria The renowned American actress, Eva Longoria, has starred in a documentary series dedicated to Spain, the land of her ancestors. Titled “Recorriendo España” (Exploring Spain), the Texan explores Spanish gastronomy and culture in several episodes, giving significant attention to the world of wine.

In the episode dedicated to Galicia, Ferrol-born chef Daniel López, from the restaurant O Camiño Inglés, accompanies the American superstar for a day in which Longoria learns firsthand how barnacles are harvested.

Later, on San Jorge beach, just a few meters from the vineyard of the Blanco Legítimo grape variety cultivated by Bodegas El Paraguas in the Ferrol parish of Esmelle; Longoria, López, and two local fishermen share experiences and stories at a table accompanied by Astillero 2021 wine. At this moment, Eva Longoria takes the opportunity to toast those present with the wine created by Marcial Pita and Felicísimo Pereira.

Bodegas El Paraguas has just received, for the fourth time in its short history, the award for Best Wine in Spain according to the AEPEV (Asociación Española de Periodistas y Escritores del Vino). This award goes to the flagship white of the Galician company, El Paraguas Atlántico 2022, recognized as the Best Wine of Spain in the category of “Oak Aged White Wines”.

El Paraguas Atlántico 2022 has been awarded this important distinction following the decision made by the almost 200 members of the Spanish wine press association. It is important to highlight that the AEPEV Awards are not a typical competition or tasting. Being included among the products to be evaluated is only allowed by the criteria of the opinion leaders (AEPEV partners) based on the news generated during the year and also considering the products tasted by them throughout 2023. The relationship between producers and communicators generates news and these popularize the wines. These AEPEV Awards recognize the best, according to the particular criteria of each of our partners.

The members of the AEPEV chose 451 wines and 108 spirits, which after the first selection determined the table of FINALISTS with 155 wines, 59 spirits and 10 vermouths that were voted on in the second round by journalists and whose result has allowed Bodegas El Paraguas to win the award that they will collect next spring at an event organized by the AEPEV with some of the most important prescribers in Spain.
