New quality vineyard in Ribadavia
Bodegas El Paraguas has just added to its chores a new plot of 6,000 square meters in the municipality of Ribadavia, capital of Ribeiro. This place has about 4,000 square meters of vineyards planted relatively close La Cabrita Vineyard, which the Galician firm has been working since its constitution in 2011, but which the ancestors of Felicísimo Pereira have been cultivating since 1892.

This vineyard is located at one of the lowest altitudes of the Avia Valley, around 328 feet above sea level, being dominated by its granite soil with a shallow surface, common in this area where the Avia river flows in the Miño.

The incorporation of this vineyard requires some basic tasks before beginning its familiarization by Bodegas El Paraguas. The first of all has already been launched this winter, with the grafting of selected clones from the Treixadura and Albariño vineyards that dominates the processing house in some strains of the foreign Palomino that were in that payment.

The vineyard itself has strains of different ages, but the technical director of Bodegas El Paraguas, Felicísimo Pereira, says that among them is “the mother of all strains”, a Treixadura specimen that has just turned 102 since its plantation. Now begins the dialogue of the Galician winery with the vineyard.
