Luis Gutiérrez Santo Domingo, taster for Spain, Argentina, Chile and Loira for the prestigious publication The Wine Advocate, shared two days with the managers of Bodegas El Paraguas to learn, first-hand, both the initiative carried out by the company in the northernmost vineyard of Galicia, and the “source” of its wines in the Avia valley of the D.O. Ribeiro.
This visit was shared by the prescriber from Ávila on his social media and brought with it the assessment of the latest vintages of the wines made by Bodegas El Paraguas. An evaluation that places, once again, the Galician company among the main wineries in Galicia and as one of the leaders in the production of white wines worldwide.
The wine which the man who awards Parker points in Spain liked the most was La Sombrilla 2019, rated with 95 Parker points. A score that places the white wine from Bodegas El Paraguas on the pedestal of the best wines on the planet. The rest of the Atlantic company’s whites also achieved excellent ratings, such as Fai un Sol de Carallo 2020 and Fai un Sol de Carallo 2018 (94+ points both, the best rating in the history of this limited wine); or Astillero 2021, which with its 93+ points becomes, for the second consecutive time with only two vintages on the market, the highest rated wine made with Blaco Legítimo variety in the publication. Finally, El Paraguas Atlántico 2021 reached the not inconsiderable rating of 93 points.
