Robert Parker gives the highest score in its history to Bodegas El Paraguas
The latest issue of the influential publication The Wine Advocate, the one published at the end of May 2020, which are popularly known as the Parker points, has just released its valuations on the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas, placing them, once again, as some benchmarks in the Ribeiro area and prominent in the Spanish scene.

The three wines produced by Bodegas El Paraguas in the heart of the Avia del Ribeiro valley rank among the eleven best valued by the prestigious magazine in the entire Denomination of Origin, with a total of more than one hundred qualified wines and more than 300 labels that appear in the Ribeiro market.
The taster Luis Gutiérrez, responsible for the valuations of the national wines, has awarded 94 Parker points to the La Sombrilla 2017 wine, positioning itself as one of the highest-rated whites in Galicia. For its part, El Paraguas Atlántico 2018 reached 93 valuation points, while Fai un Sol de Carallo 2016 obtained a higher score of 93+ points.
Even more important than the valuations, for Bodegas El Paraguas it is essential that Luis Gutiérrez, responsible for the tastings of The Wine Advocate for Spain, has put on the wine map the northernmost vineyard in Spain, the one that Bodegas El Paraguas produces in the Esmelle parish in the Coruña municipality of Ferrol.

At the Galician firm's facilities, measures have been taken to tackle the disease and prevent us from being a possible source of contagion. Since last March 12, the manufacturing facility located in Cenlle has remained closed, waiting for Felicísimo Pereira and Marcial Pita, maximum managers of Bodegas El Paraguas, to pass the confinement in their homes.
It was not until May 4, after properly sanitizing the facilities, that only the technical director of Bodegas El Paraguas, Felicísimo Pereira, had returned to his domains in the winery. A measure that guarantees that the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas have not been in contact with anyone during all this time. Now, it's time to enjoy them.

Bottled the 2018 vintage payment wines

Bodegas El Paraguas announces the bottling of the two parcel wines that the Galician firm produces in the Avia Valley of the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin, La Sombrilla 2018 and Fai un Sol de Carallo 2018 for its necessary refining before it is released to the market during 2021.
La Sombrilla 2018 is a wine made in the D.O. Ribeiro with the native grapes Treixadura and Albariño. 60% of the wine was made in a stainless steel tank in contact with its fine lees for three months. 40% of the remaining wine was fermented and aged with its fine lees for six months in 600-liter French oak burgundy barrels. When the two wines were finished, the grapes from the La Castiñeira plot were assembled, which is located in the San Andrés area of the Ribadavia municipality, exposed in an amphitheater and occupying 2 hectares of land.
For its part, Fai un Sol de Carallo 2018 was born from the selection of the best vines from La Cabrita's own vineyard, also located in the municipalty of Ribadavia (Ourense) and occupying an area of 1.4 hectares. A white wine conceived with the triumvirate of great Galician native grapes: Treixadura, Albariño and Godello. After twelve months of aging in second-use wood, the resulting wine remains in bottle until it is marketed.
