El Paraguas Atlántico, best white wine in Sobremesa magazine
The number 354 of Sobremesa magazine, dean publication about gastronomy and wine and a referent in the Spanish scene, has released a tasting note about the most popular wines that Bodegas El Paraguas makes, giving them the highest score given to an international white wine in 2016.

The 94 points with which the wine El Paraguas Atlántico has been valued in rigorous blind tasting place it at the front in the popular white vinified wines classification made by the magazine and reviewed annually. A tasting panel that includes Spanish panorama recognized tasters, who have been seduced by the fourth vintage of the Galician white wine.

The world premiere of the last wine conceived by Marcial Pita and Felicísimo Pereira, responsibles for Bodegas El Paraguas will be in late fall. With the label of La Sombrilla, the Galician winemakers will bring out to the market a limited edition of 1,500 bottles of a unique wine, with a profile well differentiated of his brothers El Paraguas Atlántico and Fai un Sol de Carallo.
La Sombrilla 2015 is a new plot wine designed from a vineyard that Bodegas El Paraguas have been valuing for three harvests. Located on top of the municipality of Ribadavia where the company is already working, at San Andrés area, the estate of 2 hectares where it comes from was planted in 1997 and is known as la Viña de Eladio.
A vineyard planted on granitic soils and dominated by the Treixadura variety and that has a small proportion of Godello and Albariño plants, from which Bodegas El Paraguas has carried out a careful selection for La Sombrilla wine. The final result, a white wine with 40% of fermentation and aging in French oak barrels of 600 liters.

Bodegas El Paraguas has reached an agreement with Teima Down Syndrome Association, a nonprofit entity, to incorporate a young person from this association to winegrowing work, who will work in the vineyards helping the Galician company.
Within the ambitious policy of R&D that characterizes Bodegas El Paraguas from its birth, those responsibles of the company have invested in this research and development plan for giving a disabled person the opportunity to perform some viticultural work in the vineyards of the company.
This young person from Teima will carry out his work in the vineyard that Bodegas El Paraguas is farming in the parish of Esmelle, the most northerly in Spain, carefully guided by Marcial Pita and Felicísimo Pereira. After pondering deeply, Bodegas El Paraguas has decided to take out the traditional capsules from the 2015 vintage and dress all their wines with wax. More expensive and laborious, because of the obligation of making the waxing of each bottle by hand, the wax provides a picture of undeniable quality. Hopefully the end customer will know how to appreciate this effort for which content and continent go hand in hand in the wines of the Galician company.
