The 2024 harvest is proving to be one of the best vintages of the century in Galicia, and Bodegas El Paraguas has been able to complete a run of 1,982 bottles of this incomparable white wine.
La Sombrilla 2024 is a wine made from a selection of Treixadura and Albariño grapes from the A Castiñeira estate. Forty percent of the wine was fermented and aged in second-use French oak barrels, while the remaining grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks on their lees. Once both wines were fully fermented, the final blend of La Sombrilla 2024 was created.
This wine has achieved unprecedented success among the world's leading wine critics, who in previous vintages have ranked it among the most highly regarded white wines in the sector. Examples include the 98 points awarded by Tim Atkin to its 2019 vintage—the highest-scoring Galician white wine in 2023—the 96 points recently awarded by the Peñín Guide 2026, and the 95 points from Robert Parker bestowed upon some of its most recent vintages.

The latest edition of the most prestigious wine guide in Spanish, the Guía Peñín 2027, has released the scores for the white wines produced by Bodegas El Paraguas in its online version, positioning the winery's wines among the best in Spain once again and as undisputed benchmarks in the Galician wine scene.
On this occasion, Bodegas El Paraguas decided to send the Fai un Sol de Carallo 2022 wine, rated with 97 points out of 100, which positions this white wine born from a vineyard cultivated by the family of Felicísimo Pereira since 1892 among the best wines made in Spain.
For its part, the publication also gave the El Paraguas Atlántico 2024 and La Sombrilla 2023 wines a rating of 94 out of 100. The flagship wine of Bodegas El Paraguas comes from a tremendously complex and interesting 2024 harvest in the Ribeiro region.

The 2026 vintage, the earliest of all time

You don't have to be deeply involved in the wine world to know what all the news outlets in Europe are announcing: 2026 is the earliest harvest on record. At Bodegas El Paraguas, naturally, we're also facing a very early harvest, around two weeks ahead of the average of recent years.
A vintage that began with an autumn in which storm fronts were interspersed with sunny days, with November being the third rainiest month of the last decade, after 2022 and 2017. The winter was not particularly cold, in fact 2025 was the warmest year recorded to date in Galicia.
It rained every day in January, except for three. One of the driest Januarys on record due to the abundance of rain. February was more of the same, with very heavy rains for many days. In March, the heat arrived and budding began earlier than usual. April was drier than normal, and May was hot, bringing the entire growing cycle forward.
June began with light rain and a drop in temperatures, but then it was drier than usual, with hardly any rainfall and the fields very dry for this time of year. A few light showers at the end of the month provided some relief to the vineyards before July began with a heat wave.
July continued to break temperature records, dominated by dry, rainless days. Many young vines died in the vineyard. Finally, in the third week of August, the much-needed rains arrived across Galicia. Two storm fronts brought relief from the water stress experienced by the vines before the earliest harvest ever.
