The article titled "Galicia 2025 Top 100", written by Australian wine critic Beth Willard, places the white wines of Bodegas El Paraguas at the top of the ranking.
For Willard, the wine El Paraguas Atlántico 2023 deserves a score of 96 out of 100, the sixth-highest rating for a white wine in the report. "A wine with great purity and identity", attests Tim Atkin's regular collaborator, who added that "the texture is very present in the wine".
Willard, who enjoyed a day with the owners of Bodegas El Paraguas, also tasted the other two plots produced individually by Bodegas El Paraguas in the Avia Valley of the Ribeiro D.O. From Fai un Sol de Carallo 2020, which Atkin gave 95 points, Willard highlights its "creaminess and serious weight in the mouth", while La Sombrilla 2021 was awarded 93 points.

El Paraguas Atlántico 2024, 1,500 boxes sold in less than a month

|
The release of the latest vintage of El Paraguas Atlántico, the 2024 one, has been spectacularly well received by Bodegas El Paraguas' distributors in 17 countries. In less than a month, the Galician winery has already sold more than 1,500 cases of six bottles of the 3,400 cases corresponding to the total production of the flagship white wine from the firm founded by Felicísimo Pereira and Marcial Pita.
El Paraguas Atlántico 2024 is a wine made in the Ribeiro D.O. with the triumvirate of great native Galician grapes: Treixadura, Albariño, and Godello. Each varietal from each plot was produced separately, either in stainless steel tanks or in French oak barrels.
A white with its own identity that reflects a winemaking philosophy that incorporates the latest winemaking technologies at the service of mature vineyards, where Bodegas El Paraguas' intervention is minimal and always serves to ensure the highest quality of the bunches.

La Sombrilla 2023 and Fai un Sol de Carallo 2023, on sale in the fall
The 2023 harvest will go down in Bodegas El Paraguas's history as one of the most complex and interesting in its short history, which began with the 2011 vintage. A spectacular vintage that has also delivered a high level of quality in the single-vineyard wines produced by the Galician firm in the Avia Valley of the Ribeiro D.O.
With these ingredients, Fai un Sol de Carallo 2023, from the legendary Viña La Cabrita, and La Sombrilla 2023, from the A Castiñeira estate, will be released next fall. These two wines have a very limited run: 793 bottles of Fai un Sol de Carallo and 1,982 bottles of La Sombrilla 2023, sold by quota and in a single day. However, if you are a member of the Bodegas El Paraguas Friends' Club and have purchased any of these wines in advance, you can receive them before they are released.
Two cult whites that have become part of the history of modern Galician viticulture. Vintage after vintage, these wines have received the acclaim of the most influential prescribers in the wine industry, such as Luis Gutiérrez (responsible for Parker points in Spain for The Wine Adocate magazine), Tim Atkim (British author with the title Master of Wine), and the Guía Peñín (the most widely read Spanish-language wine publication in the world), among others.
