In these ratings, the wines from Bodegas El Paraguas once again shine with their own light, placing themselves among the best whites in the world.
On this occasion, the wine that the man who awards Parker points in Spain liked the most was Fai un Sol de Carallo 2021, rated with 95 points out of 100, the highest rating achieved by this wine to date. A score that places the white wine from Bodegas El Paraguas on the pedestal of the best wines on the planet.
As for the rest of the wines, due to the recent visit to the facilities of Bodegas El Paraguas by Gutiérrez himself in October 2023, the prescriber from Ávila only valued the next vintage of La Sombrilla 2022 that will be released on the market, which he scored with 93 points out of 100.

The end of summer brings the release of the top wine Fai un Sol de Carallo 2022. A white wine made from a selection of bunches from the La Cabrita vineyard, planted in 1892 by Felicísimo Pereira's great-grandfather and cultivated by the family of the owner and technical director of the company since then. Just 780 bottles of this wine, fermented and aged for a year in a new 600-litre French oak barrel, which is celebrating its tenth vintage on the market since the inaugural 2013.
For its part, La Sombrilla 2022 completes the pair of wines that will be released on the market from October 1st. A white wine made from a selection of Treixadura and Albariño grapes from the A Castiñeira estate. 40% of the wine was fermented and aged in a second-use French oak barrel, while the remaining grapes were aged in a steel tank with their fine lees. When both wines were completed, the final blend of La Sombrilla 2022 was undertaken.

2024 harvest, another vintage with great dedication to the vineyard
| |
|
With just a few days to go before the grape harvest begins at Bodegas El Paraguas and if nature does not dictate another sentence, 2024 is announced as a more generous harvest than the scarce 2021, 2022 and 2023. A vintage in which Bodegas El Paraguas has incorporated a new vineyard in the Avia Valley whose bunches will help to form the final blend of El Paraguas Atlántico 2024.
After an early harvest in 2023, September and October broke temperature records, until the October's long weekend, when the first trains of storms arrived with abundant rain, with memorable precipitation during the following months. At the end of January we encountered temperatures above usual for that time of year and an anticyclone that made January the warmest ever recorded in Galicia. But February had low temperatures, typical of the season, and March was the rainiest of the 21st century.
April offered a spring with higher temperatures than usual, until April 24th, when a polar front arrived and lasted a couple of days, although temperatures did not drop below 0º C. Temperatures in the region until the end of May were below the usual average for recent vintages, with episodes of rain and much sacrifice in the vineyard. From May 26th, finally, the Azores Anticyclone set in and dry weather began, but only for a few days, because the rest of the spring continued to be humid and with the presence of mildew. Diseases did not stop in the first half of July, with a humid and mild summer. Finally, from the second half of July, heat waves began nationwide that also bathed our vineyards, which continued in August. At this point, we expect a longer than usual harvest.
