The second harvest of the wine made in the Ferrol parish of Esmelle, in the northernmost vineyard of Galicia, stands out as the best white made with the Blanco Legítimo grape variety in the publication and as one of the best wines in Spain.
Bodegas El Paraguas received the award that recognizes this wine with a limited circulation of only 280 bottles in the Hall of the Best Wines of Spain. Event that took place at the Ifema venue in Madrid on November 13th and 14th, where the Galician company had a stand in the podium area and offered the award-winning wine for being tasted, as well as the rest of the whites that were rated in the Guía Peñín 2024.
Astillero 2021 is a wine made with bunches of the Blanco Legítimo grape variety. After manually harvesting them in small boxes, they are taken to the winery, where a table selection takes place grain by grain. After a traditional production in stainless steel tanks with a controlled temperature of 15º C, the wine remains in contact with the skins for 7 months before being bottled.

The Wine Advocate's visit gives an award to Bodegas El Paraguas

Luis Gutiérrez Santo Domingo, taster for Spain, Argentina, Chile and Loira for the prestigious publication The Wine Advocate, shared two days with the managers of Bodegas El Paraguas to learn, first-hand, both the initiative carried out by the company in the northernmost vineyard of Galicia, and the "source" of its wines in the Avia valley of the D.O. Ribeiro.
This visit was shared by the prescriber from Ávila on his social media and brought with it the assessment of the latest vintages of the wines made by Bodegas El Paraguas. An evaluation that places, once again, the Galician house among the main wineries in Galicia and as one of the leaders in the production of white wines worldwide.
The wine which the man who awards Parker points in Spain liked the most was La Sombrilla 2019, rated with 95 Parker points. A score that places the white wine from Bodegas El Paraguas on the pedestal of the best wines on the planet. The rest of the Atlantic company's whites also achieved excellent ratings, such as Fai un Sol de Carallo 2020 and Fai un Sol de Carallo 2018 (94+ points both, the best rating in the history of this limited wine); or Astillero 2021, which with its 93+ points becomes, for the second consecutive time with only two vintages on the market, the highest rated wine made with Blaco Legítimo variety in the publication. Finally, El Paraguas Atlántico 2021 reached the not inconsiderable rating of 93 points.
