El Paraguas Atlántico 2020 comes from a magnificent vintage at Bodegas El Paraguas. A wine made in the D.O. Ribeiro with the triumvirate of great native Galician grapes: Treixadura, Albariño and Godello. Each varietal from each plot was produced separately, either in stainless steel tanks or in French oak barrels, as was the case with the Godello.
For its part, La Sombrilla 2019 is born from one of the freshest vintages of the century in Galicia, a vintage that is reminiscent of those of yesteryear. With a print run of just 1,100 bottles, this white wine has been produced in the D.O. Ribeiro with native Treixadura and Albariño grapes. 60% of the wine was vinified in a stainless steel tank in contact with its fine lees for three months. While the remaining 40% of the wine was fermented and aged along with its fine lees for six months in a 600-litre Burgundy French oak barrel.

The Wine Advocate awards the best ratings in its history to Bodegas El Paraguas

The latest issue of the influential publication The Wine Advocate dedicated to Galicia, the one published at the end of February, which is popularly known as the Parker points, has just disclosed its assessments of the wines from Bodegas El Paraguas, placing them, once again, as a benchmark in Galicia and one of the most outstanding in the Spanish scene.
The taster Luis Gutiérrez, responsible for the assessment of national wines, has awarded 94+ Parker points to the wine La Sombrilla 2018, positioning it as one of the highest rated whites in Galicia. For its part, El Paraguas Atlántico 2019 reached 93+ points in the evaluation, while Fai un Sol de Carallo 2017 obtained a higher score, 94 points out of 100.

San Sebastián, Bilbao and Ferrol, last stops of Bodegas El Paraguas

With the most flexible COVID measures, Bodegas El Paraguas is strongly resuming commercial outlets, to make sommeliers and customers aware of the wines produced by the Galician firm. Taking advantage of the launch of the new wine vintages on the market, Euskadi and Galicia have been protagonists of the exhibitions of Felicísimo Pereira and Marcial Pita.
The technical director and co-owner of Bodegas El Paraguas, Felicísimo Pereira, was in charge of visiting San Sebastián and Bilbao. In Donostia, Pereira presented the house wines to an important cast of sommeliers and wine actors at the Anoeta stadium. In Bilbao, meanwhile, the tasting was aimed exclusively at representatives of some of the main establishments in the Biscayan province.
For his part, Marcial Pita, the other side of the coin at Bodegas El Paraguas, took advantage of the celebration of the Fevino event in his native Ferrol to give a tasting titled “Bodegas El Paraguas, commitment to aged wines”. In this tasting, masters of wine and other international prescribers mingled with the regional public to witness the excellent aging capacity of the Galician winery's wines.

The publication Wine Up elevates the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas

Joaquín Parra, at the head of the Wine Up Guide, has launched the latest edition of his 2022 Wine Guide, which lists all the wines produced by Bodegas El Paraguas. In this digital publication, the wines of the Galician firm are positioned among the best in Spain in their category.
The best rated by the author from La Mancha was the white wine Fai un Sol de Carallo 2017, with an evaluation of 95.08 points. This score makes Bodegas El Paraguas' top white wine the second best white wine in the guide and 14th among all the wines tasted in the publication. An exceptional result for the Galician house.
For its part, La Sombrilla 2018 wine has been recognized as the fourth Best White Wine in the same category, Best in Class 2022 from the 2019 harvest and earlier; being the 46th of all the wines that appear in the guide with 94.00 points. Nor is the wine El Paraguas Atlántico 2019 far behind, which, with 93.23 points, rises to 17th place among the best whites in Spain in the eyes of Parra.
