The winery's flagship wine, El Paraguas Atlántico 2021, comes from a very difficult vintage, in which the winemaking house has had to make an abysmal effort to complete the final blend of this white wine dominated by Treixadura and which has a small contribution of Albariño and Godello. A very limited circulation, of just 10,500 bottles, which represents 40% less production than in the 2020 vintage. The smallest harvest of El Paraguas Atlántico since 2014.
Likewise, with the end of autumn the 'top' wine Fai un Sol de Carallo 2020 sees the light. A white wine made from a selection of clusters from the La Cabrita vineyard, planted in 1892 by Felicísimo Pereira's great-grandfather and cultivated by the family of the owner and technical director of the firm since then. Barely 775 bottles of this wine fermented and aged for a year in a new 600-litre French oak barrel.
Lastly, La Sombrilla 2020 completes the trio of wines that will go on the market from December 1st. A white wine made from a selection of bunches of Treixadura and Albariño that come from the A Castiñeira estate. 60% of the wine was fermented and aged in second-use French oak barrels, while the rest of the clusters were produced in a steel tank with their fine lees. When both wines completed their elaboration, the final coupage of La Sombrilla 2020 was undertaken.

Bodegas El Paraguas makes its debut at Tim Atkin with a good note

Tim Atkin, British journalist and popularizer who has the Master of Wine title, the highest recognition in the wine sector, has tasted the white wines of Bodegas El Paraguas for the first time, qualifying the wines of the Galician firm with high scores in their premiere on the 61-year-old critic's website.
For Atkin, El Paraguas Atlántico 2019 deserves a score of 95 points out of 100. "A complex wine, but incredibly accessible", attests the regular BBC contributor. For its part, Astillero 2021, the white wine vinified by the Galician winery in the Ferrol parish of Esmelle, was rated 92 points. A "classic and concise Atlantic wine", in the words of the journalist.
Lastly, the two plots that Bodegas El Paraguas produces individually in the Avia Valley of the D.O. Ribeiro were worthy of 94 points. About La Sombrilla 2018, Atkin has spoken favorably of its aging potential; while about Fai un Sol de Carallo 2017, the English popularizer insists that there is "an aging potential that people probably don't realize is possible in the region".

Joaquín Parra, in charge of the Wine Up Guide, has launched the latest edition of his 2023 Wine Guide, which lists all the wines produced by Bodegas El Paraguas. In this digital publication, the wines of the Galician firm are positioned among the best in Spain in their category.
The best rated by the author from La Mancha has been the white wine Fai un Sol de Carallo 2018, with 95.08 valuation points. This rating places the 'top' white from Bodegas El Paraguas as one of the best wines in the guide, awarding it the qualification of Wine Ambassador, after obtaining the highest rating in the publication for a wine made from the Treixadura variety.
For its part, La Sombrilla 2018 wine has been recognized as one of the best whites of the 2020 and previous vintages; obtaining a valuation of 94.00 points. The El Paraguas Atlántico 2019 wine is not far behind either, which, with 93.23 points, stands as another great benchmark among Spanish whites in the eyes of Parra.

Poland, Sweden and Japan, new countries where to buy the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas

Bodegas El Paraguas continues to strengthen its international presence, being able to enjoy its wines in 15 countries on four continents. After starting to work with the Swedish monopoly, Poland and Japan have also succumbed to the white wines made by the firm led by Felicísimo Pereira and Marcial Pita.
In fact, to build loyalty in the export markets that have trusted the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas for years, the company has recently attended two events held in Puerto Rico and the Netherlands. Events to make wines known to professionals who yearn to enjoy wines with an undeniable Atlantic character.
