Bodegas El Paraguas receives the Best Wine Award in Spain for the third time
For the third time in its short history, Bodegas El Paraguas obtains the maximum recognition of the Asociación Española de Periodistas y Escritores del Vino (AEPEV) for the El Paraguas Atlántico wine.

The leading white of the Galician winery has been named Best Wine of Spain in the category of white wines of the competition that annually makes the association presided by José Luis Murcia.
Although Bodegas El Paraguas does not present its wines to contests, the X Edition of the Best Wines and Spirituous of Spain is a different contest, since they are the members of the AEPEV, which in a double round vote decide which Spanish wines should compete for this award.
A vote in which most of its members took part and in which they had to decide among the 575 brands proposed in the first phase of the contest, from which a total of 139 wines and 48 spirituous got into the final in the 11 chapters to which they opted. A very rigorous qualification system that has resulted in the prize for El Paraguas Atlántico 2017 wine.
The award that Marcial Pita received was presented on April 12th in the course of a gala lunch held in Umbrete, attended by the authorities of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and the Sevillian province, as well as the board of directors of the AEPEV.

During the next days of July, the last harvest of the El Paraguas Atlántico wine, 2018, the white wine of Bodegas El Paraguas, will go on sale. A wine that brings together the best plots that Bodegas El Paraguas works in the Avia Valley of the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin. A vintage that reminds, by complexity, of the 2011 and 2014 harvests.
A white wine that you can enjoy through your usual distributor or in specialized stores, which has been vinified with 89% Treixadura and that has been assembled with 10% Godello and 3% Albariño. A wine that was born after the interpretation by Bodegas El Paraguas of the nature of the vintages, but that always offers a very identifiable common style.
In this 2018 harvest, this ribeiro displays on the nose very elegant aromas of white fruits (apple and pear) along with citrus (lime) and pleasant shades of hay. Later there are floral notes (mimosas and chamomile) and lavender that gives it character and personality on a saline background in which the wood accompanies very tenuously. For its part, the palate is tasty and fatty, enjoying a silky step, with an excellent combination of fruit and acidity. Very expressive, with an outstanding complexity and persistence. Marked balsamic and citrus notes at the end, leaving a pleasant memory of fruit in its aftertaste.

Bodegas El Paraguas has reached an agreement with the not-for-profit organization Nuestra Señora de Chamorro to incorporate a young man from the association into vineyard work, who is already helping out in the vineyards of the Galician company.
Within the ambitious R & D policy that characterizes Bodegas El Paraguas since its inception, the responsibles of the processing house have bet in this research and development plan for giving a disabled person a chance to carry out some viticultural work in the vineyards of thesociety.
The young man belonging to the Nuestra Señora de Chamorro Assotiation performs his work in the vineyard that Bodegas El Paraguas grows in the Ferrol parish of Esmelle, the northernmost of Spain, carefully managed by Marcial Pita and Felicísimo Pereira.

The number 383 of the magazine Sobremesa, dean publication in gastronomy and wine and a reference in the Spanish scene, has published a tasting note of the most popular wine produced by Bodegas El Paraguas, qualifying it with 93 points in its edition of the month of May.
On the other hand, the Sin Mala Uva Guide that directs Ernesto Gallud has also announced the valuations of the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas in its online publication, exceeding all of them 90 points out of 100 and Fai un Sol de Carallo 2016 standing out among the best white wines in Spain, appreciated with 94 points.
