The international critic insists on the improvement of the wines of Bodegas El Paraguas
The latest edition of the most influential Spanish wine guide, the 2019 Peñín Guide, has advanced in its online version the scores of two of the wines produced by Bodegas El Paraguas, qualifying all the wines presented by the Galician firm with 93 points out of 100, an assessment that positions the white wines of the company among the best in Spain one more year.

The wine Fai un Sol de Carallo 2015 and the white wine El Paraguas Atlántico 2016 stand out in the publication due to their personality and character.
Similarly, the 2018 Guía de Vinos y Aceites published by the Semana Vitivinícola every year, directed by Salvador Manjón and written by Antonio Casado, has valued the El Paraguas Atlántico 2016 white wine with 95 points out of 100. The only wine presented by the Galician company to the publishing house is indicated as one of the most outstanding wines of the DO Ribeiro.
Finally, another internationally renowned journalist, James Suckling, also valued La Sombrilla 2016 in July, scoring the assembly of treixadura and albariño with 93 points out of 100. It is the first time that the critic values the last plot wine of the Galician company.

The latest vintage in the history of Bodegas El Paraguas

The harvest of the clusters of Treixadura, Godello and Albariño that Bodegas El Paraguas handles will be delayed around three weeks in comparison with the harvest 2017 in the Viña La Cabrita and La Castiñeira, both plots located in the term of Ribadavia, being one of the latest vintages in many years and, at least, in the eight harvests made by the Galician company.
After a very hard winter, March was also one of the coldest and rainiest months in many years, delaying sprouting around two weeks from the usual. Although May and June were not cold, 2018 was the spring with the most rainy days since 1971. The heat appeared at the end of June, although July was not a very dry month either, considering that for 31 days it rained 9, collecting 33.4 liters per square meter in the month. In August, an exceptional heat wave stressed, fundamentally, the younger plants, being saved the most memorable vines in the winery, as confirmed by Felicísimo Pereira, one of the owners of the company and technical director of Bodegas El Paraguas.

Elmundovino confirms his idyll with Bodegas El Paraguas
The dean wine information portal Elmundovino, of the El Mundo Group, one of the most consulted websites on the Spanish wine scene, named Bodegas El Paraguas last November as the winery of the week in its virtual space. The evaluation of the two wines sent by the Galician processing house, La Sombrilla 2015 and El Paraguas Atlántico 2016, deserved a recognition limited to very few Spanish companies.
In July, following elmundovino's request for the last vintages marketed by the winery, the wines Fai un Sol de Carallo 2015 and El Paraguas Atlántico 2017 again stood out in the tasting panel of the website. Both wines were worthy of the "Wine of the Day" distinction, limited to less than 300 wines per year, the best qualified in each tasting session.
